Ag Sales Intern

Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: 7:30 AM-5:00 PM, M-F

Essential Functions of Sales Intern:

  • Student will rotate throughout the heavy construction sales department, working alongside an Altorfer Sales employee who will educate them about the occupation of working within the sales department and mentor them throughout their internship.
  • Student will assist the Altorfer Sales Coordinator employee in creating equipment sales quotes, creating financial documents and other sales related documents.
  • Student  will rotate to the Altorfer Sales Fleet team and assist/learn how price quotes are created in the equipment product line. 
  • Student will rotate and work alongside the Heavy Equipment Finance Manager, learning to understand how the tracking of our machines (machines sold, machines in inventory, and etc.).
  • Student will work with an Altorfer Outside Sales Representative, learning to understand the importance of building customer relationships, and machines sales.
  • Student will meet the performance and safety standards and specifications held by Altorfer, as well as assist in keeping work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.
  • Student will use appropriate behavior in keeping with Altorfer’s mission to fulfill the needs of our customers and partners with providing quality products, solutions, and support. Every member of our team works together to meet customers equipment-related needs, taking a ‘can do’ attitude and seeing it through until it’s done. We stand by our products and above all else, we “tell it like it is”.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions, have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice. Must be detail-oriented, courteous, and respectful. Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required.
  •  Student must enjoy working in a team environment, be a self-starter, motivated and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience/Education: Must be a high school student in good standing and interested in pursuing a marketing or business degree after high school. Must be mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
  •  Attire: Plan to dress appropriately for work performed in a business casual office environment. Jeans or khakis are fine but must be free of holes, closed toes shoes and shirts appropriate for working in an office environment (polo shirts or plan shirts are fine with no writing preferred). Safety glasses, ear plugs, and vests will be provided by Altorfer if/when needed.
  •  General physical activities to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation: Frequent sitting, walking, and lifting up to 20lbs. Occasional local riding in vehicles with Altorfer sales representative. 
  • Student may be subject to a background check prior to starting, and may be required to sign a confidentiality clause.

 

This description does not list all duties. Intern may be asked to perform other duties by the staff or supervisor. Intern will be evaluated on performance of the projects listed as well as interaction with employees and clients. On-site hours will be negotiated with each candidate.
