Internship Title: Community Outreach Intern

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Community Outreach Intern is responsible for many aspects of community relations for the Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity as it seeks to build increased capacity in the community on an annual basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities.

·       Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in individual and group settings.

·       Basic computer skills to include proficiency in word- processing programs including e-mail and internet operations. Ability to compose memos, letters, fliers, etc.

·       Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs in accordance with operating policies and procedures.

Position Description:

·       Resource and development (fundraising)

·       Community engagement - Plan and attend affiliate awareness functions related to building stronger relationships with stakeholders throughout the community.

·       Marketing

·       Communications - Work with staff to develop various communications to include e-mail and hard copy newsletters, website, social networking, graphic design, etc.

·       Volunteer Coordination

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
