Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the field of accounting and finance. Interns will observe accountants and finance professionals as they manage records, analyze data, and support business operations. Experience provides insight into financial processes, organization, and problem-solving in a professional setting.
Responsibilities May Include:
· Shadow accountants or finance staff during daily tasks and office activities
· Assist with organizing documents, filing, and maintaining financial records
· Observe processes such as bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial reporting
· Learn about professional communication, confidentiality, and ethical standards in finance
· Support staff with data entry, spreadsheets, and simple calculations as appropriate
· Gain exposure to software and tools used in accounting and finance
· Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

· Understand the role of accountants in businesses, organizations, and financial management
· Learn basic financial and record-keeping concepts
· Gain awareness of confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail in accounting

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
