Overview:
This internship offers high school students the chance to explore the world of architecture through hands-on projects, observation, and mentorship. Interns will learn how architects design spaces, create drawings, and bring ideas to life. This experience will help students understand the creative and technical sides of architecture while building skills useful for future education and careers.
Responsibilities may include:
· Shadowing architects and designers to observe their daily work
· Assisting with simple design projects, drawings, or model-building
· Learning about architectural software and tools (such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit)
· Helping with research on materials, sustainability, or design concepts
· Participating in team meetings or site visits (when available)
· Completing reflection journals, workbook entries, or presentations as part of the program requirements
Skills Developed:
· Understanding of the design and planning process
· Introduction to architectural software and drawing techniques
· Problem-solving and creative thinking skills
· Experience with teamwork, communication, and project organization
· Real-world connection between math, art, and science in architecture

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
