Banker Intern

Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the banking industry and financial services. Interns will observe and assist bank staff as they interact with customers, process transactions, and manage financial operations. The experience provides insight into banking procedures, customer service, and the responsibilities of financial professionals.

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  •  Shadow bankers and bank staff during daily operations, customer interactions, and administrative tasks
  •  Assist with non-financial tasks such as organizing documents, preparing forms, and maintaining records
  •  Observe how bank employees handle transactions, advise clients, and maintain account accuracy
  •  Learn about financial products, banking procedures, and professional communication
  •  Gain exposure to teamwork, customer service, and problem-solving in a financial environment
  •  Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Outcomes:

  •  Understand the role of banking professionals in managing financial services and customer accounts
  •  Learn about financial products, banking operations, and transaction processes
  •  Gain awareness of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality in finance
  •  Develop observation, organizational, and communication skills
  •  Explore career and educational pathways in banking, finance, or business management

Additional Information:

  •  Interns will primarily observe and assist with support tasks; they will not perform independent financial transactions
  •  Compliance with bank policies, confidentiality, and dress code is required
  •  Some placements may involve exposure to customer service or administrative tasks outside of regular hours

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
