Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the field of manufacturing engineering. Interns will observe and assist engineers as they design, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes. The experience provides insight into production workflows, problem-solving, and the role of engineering in creating high-quality products efficiently.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Shadow manufacturing engineers during process planning, workflow analysis, and project meetings
- Assist with support tasks such as organizing documents, collecting data, or preparing reports
- Observe how engineers design processes, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure product quality
- Learn about manufacturing equipment, materials, and safety procedures
- Gain exposure to teamwork, communication, and professional problem-solving in a manufacturing environment
- Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

- Understand the role of a manufacturing engineer in designing and improving production processes

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
