About the Internship:

 
This internship provides high school students with hands-on experience in agricultural research. Interns will assist scientists and staff with experiments, data collection, and analysis related to crops, soils, livestock, or sustainability. The internship offers a unique opportunity to explore scientific inquiry and career pathways in agriculture, biology, and environmental science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with setting up and conducting agricultural experiments.

  • Collect and record data on crops, soils, livestock, or environmental conditions.

  • Help prepare and maintain lab materials, equipment, or field plots.

  • Observe research processes and participate in team discussions.

  • Support data entry, organization, and basic analysis.

  • Follow laboratory and field safety guidelines at all times.

  • Complete assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding of the scientific research process in agricultural science.

  • Exposure to experimental design, data collection, and analysis methods.

  • Insight into real-world agricultural challenges such as sustainability, soil health, and food production.

  • Development of observation, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in high school (junior or senior preferred).

  • Interest in agriculture, biology, or environmental science.

  • Responsible, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.

  • Comfortable working in a lab or outdoor field setting.

  • Basic computer skills for data entry and research support.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
