Park Ranger Intern
About the Internship:
This internship gives high school students an introduction to the work of park rangers, combining natural resource protection, public service, and outdoor education. Interns will assist staff with conservation efforts, visitor services, and park maintenance while gaining a deeper understanding of parks and recreation careers.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with park maintenance, including trails, picnic areas, and facilities.

Support conservation projects such as habitat restoration or invasive species removal.

Help monitor park conditions and report any safety or environmental concerns.

Participate in educational programs, tours, and community outreach.

Greet and assist visitors by answering questions about park rules, wildlife, and activities.

Shadow park rangers in their daily responsibilities, including safety and resource management.

Complete assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
