Naturalist Intern
About the Internship:
This internship provides high school students with hands-on experience in environmental education and conservation. Interns will work alongside naturalists to learn about local ecosystems, wildlife, and outdoor education programs while supporting community outreach and stewardship projects.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with nature programs, tours, and environmental education activities.

Support wildlife and plant monitoring, including observation and data collection.

Help maintain trails, habitats, and outdoor learning spaces.

Participate in conservation projects such as invasive species removal, tree planting, or habitat restoration.

Assist with public outreach, including creating educational displays or materials.

Observe and shadow naturalists as they lead programs and engage with visitors.

Complete assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in high school (11th - 12th grade).

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
