Landscaper Intern

About the Internship:

 
This internship provides high school students with hands-on experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance. Interns will assist professionals in creating and maintaining outdoor spaces while learning about plants, design, and sustainable landscaping practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with mowing, trimming, planting, and watering landscapes.

  • Help install and maintain flower beds, trees, shrubs, and turf.

  • Support hardscape projects such as mulching, edging, and pathway upkeep.

  • Learn proper use and care of landscaping tools and equipment.

  • Monitor plant health and assist with pest and weed control.

  • Follow safety procedures while working outdoors and handling equipment.

  • Complete assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Outcomes:

  • Introduction to landscaping design and maintenance practices.

  • Experience with plant care and outdoor environment management.

  • Insight into career pathways in landscaping, horticulture, or groundskeeping.

  • Development of teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in high school (junior or senior preferred).

  • Interest in outdoor work, plants, or design.

  • Responsible, hardworking, and able to follow instructions.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Willingness to perform physical tasks and operate equipment safely.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
