Equine Manager Intern
About the Internship:
This internship provides high school students with hands-on experience in managing and caring for horses. Interns will learn about stable operations, horse care, and equine management practices while assisting professional staff in daily routines and facility upkeep.
Key Responsibilities:

Feed, water, and monitor horses, ensuring their health and well-being.

Assist with grooming, tacking, and exercising horses under supervision.

Help maintain stables, arenas, and pasture areas in a clean and safe condition.

Observe and report any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes to staff.

Support scheduling and coordination of horse care, lessons, or events.

Participate in record-keeping of feeding, training, and health activities.

Complete assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Understanding of horse care, stable management, and basic equine health.

Exposure to equine facility operations, including safety and maintenance practices.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in high school (11th - 12th grade).

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
