Conservationist Intern

About the Internship:

 
This internship offers high school students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental conservation. Interns will assist professionals in protecting natural resources, preserving wildlife habitats, and promoting sustainable practices in local communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with habitat restoration and conservation projects.

  • Participate in wildlife monitoring, plant surveys, and environmental data collection.

  • Help maintain trails, parks, or protected areas.

  • Support educational programs and community outreach initiatives.

  • Observe and report on environmental conditions, wildlife activity, or project progress.

  • Assist with research and documentation of conservation efforts.

  • Complete assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding of ecology, wildlife management, and conservation practices.

  • Hands-on experience with environmental monitoring and habitat preservation.

  • Insight into careers in environmental science, conservation, or natural resource management.

  • Development of teamwork, observation, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in high school (11th - 12th grade).

  • Interest in environmental science, biology, or conservation.

  • Responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work outdoors.

  • Comfortable performing physical activities such as hiking or planting.

  • Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
