Event Planner Intern

Position Summary:
This internship offers high school students hands-on experience in the exciting world of event planning. Interns will learn how professionals organize, coordinate, and execute events ranging from community gatherings and fundraisers to conferences and celebrations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning logistics such as scheduling, vendor communication, and setup details.

  • Support event promotion through flyers, social media posts, or outreach.

  • Help with event-day setup, guest check-in, and troubleshooting.

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for event themes and activities.

  • Observe and assist with budget tracking, vendor negotiations, and post-event evaluations.

  • Complete assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the key steps of event planning from concept to completion.

  • Strengthen organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Gain experience in problem-solving and customer service.

  • Explore career paths in event management, marketing, and hospitality.

Qualifications:

  • High school student (11th - 12th grade).

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Dependable, creative, and eager to learn.

  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.

Details:

  • Duration: Semester or summer placement.

  • Schedule: 5–10 hours per week, including occasional evening/weekend events.

  • Location: Event planning company, nonprofit, school, or community organization.

  • Supervision: Event Planner or Event Coordinator.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
