Electrical Engineering Intern

Overview:

This internship introduces high school students to the field of electrical engineering, where professionals design, build, and improve electrical systems and technology used in everyday life. Students will observe engineers at work, assist with hands-on projects when appropriate, and gain insight into how math, science, and problem-solving are applied to real-world innovations.

Responsibilities May Include:

·         Shadow electrical engineers in office, lab, or field settings.

·         Learn about circuits, electronics, renewable energy, and communication systems.

·         Assist with simple project tasks such as organizing components, preparing materials, or recording data.

·         Observe the use of engineering tools, software, and testing equipment.

·         Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Skills & Knowledge Gained:

·         Introduction to electrical engineering principles and real-world applications.

·         Awareness of electronics, circuits, and power systems.

·         Experience with problem-solving and teamwork in a technical environment.

·         Understanding of engineering ethics, safety, and professional practices.

·         Exposure to college and career pathways in engineering and technology.

Requirements:

·         Interest in math, science, technology, or engineering.

·         Willingness to learn in both office and lab environments.

·         Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

·         Professionalism, reliability, and teamwork.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this internship, students will gain a foundational understanding of electrical engineering, hands-on exposure to technical environments, and insight into how engineers develop solutions that power our world.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
