Marketing Intern

Position Summary:

 
This internship gives high school students hands-on exposure to the field of marketing. Interns will learn how businesses and organizations promote products, services, and events through digital, print, and community engagement strategies. Students will gain experience in communication, creativity, and teamwork while exploring career paths in marketing, advertising, and public relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with creating and posting content for social media platforms.
    Support event planning, promotions, and community outreach efforts.

  • Help design or edit basic marketing materials (flyers, newsletters, presentations).

  • Conduct simple market research (e.g., surveys, competitor reviews).

  • Observe and learn about branding, customer engagement, and campaign planning.

  • Complete assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the basics of marketing and its role in business.

  • Develop skills in communication, creativity, and organization.

  • Gain experience with digital tools and marketing platforms.

  • Learn about career and education pathways in marketing.

Qualifications:

  • High school student (11th - 12th grade).

  • Interest in business, communications, social media, or design.

  • Creative thinker with good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Reliable, organized, and willing to learn.

Details:

  • Duration: Semester or summer placement.

  • Schedule: 5–10 hours per week, flexible with school commitments.

  • Location: Business office or hybrid/virtual (depending on host).

  • Supervision: Marketing professional or business mentor.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
