Human Resources Intern

Position Summary:
This internship offers high school students the opportunity to explore careers in business and human resources. Interns will support HR staff in daily operations while gaining exposure to employee relations, recruitment, and workplace culture. The role provides hands-on experience in communication, organization, and confidentiality—essential skills for any future career.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining employee files and HR records.

  • Support recruitment efforts (posting opportunities, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews).

  • Help coordinate employee engagement activities and events.

  • Observe onboarding and training processes for new hires.

  • Prepare documents, presentations, and reports as assigned.

  • Shadow HR professionals to learn about workplace policies and compliance.

  •  Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of the role HR plays in supporting an organization.

  • Build professional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Learn about confidentiality and ethical considerations in HR.

  • Explore career pathways in business, management, and human resources.

Qualifications:

  • High school student (11th - 12th grade).

  • Interest in business, management, or working with people.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Responsible, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.

Details:

  • Duration: 32 Hours

  • Schedule: 5–10 hours per week, flexible around school schedule.

  • Location: Business office or HR department.

  • Supervision: HR professional or business manager.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
