Project Management Intern

Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the field of project management and the skills needed to guide a project from start to finish. Interns will observe and assist project managers as they plan, organize, and monitor tasks across teams. The experience provides insight into leadership, communication, and problem-solving in business and professional settings.

Key Responsibilities May Include:

·         Shadow project managers during planning sessions, team meetings, and progress check-ins

·         Assist with support tasks such as organizing schedules, preparing documents, or tracking project milestones

·         Observe how managers communicate with different departments and solve challenges

·         Learn about project management tools, timelines, and organizational strategies

·         Gain exposure to teamwork, leadership, and professional communication in the workplace

   ·         Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Outcomes:

·         Understand the role of a project manager in leading teams and completing projects successfully

·         Learning about scheduling, resource management, and communication strategies

·         Gain awareness of problem-solving, leadership, and organizational practices in business

·         Develop observation, teamwork, and organizational skills

·         Explore career and educational pathways in business, management, or leadership fields

·         Interest in leadership, business, or teamwork

·         Strong organizational and communication skills

·         Willingness to learn and follow instructions

·         Professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail

Additional Information:

·         Interns will primarily observe and assist with support tasks; they will not be responsible for leading projects independently

·         Compliance with workplace policies, confidentiality, and professionalism is required

·         Some placements may include exposure to industry-specific projects (technology, healthcare, construction, etc.)

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
