Campaign Worker Intern

Position Summary:
The Campaign Worker Internship offers high school students the opportunity to learn about civic engagement and the democratic process by supporting a local election campaign. Interns will gain hands-on experience with voter outreach, event planning, and communications while developing valuable professional and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist campaign staff with outreach efforts such as phone banking, canvassing (with supervision), or distributing campaign materials.

  • Support campaign events by helping with setup, registration, and community engagement.

  • Help maintain accurate records of outreach activities and supporter contacts.

  • Contribute to social media or digital communication efforts (as appropriate).

  • Learn about campaign strategy, voter engagement, and the importance of civic participation.

  •  Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the structure and daily operations of a political campaign.

  • Build communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

  • Gain experience in community engagement and public service.

  • Explore career pathways in public policy, communications, and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • High school student (grades 11–12).

  • Interest in government, politics, communications, or public service.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Responsible, reliable, and open to working with diverse community members.

Details:

  • Duration: 32 Hours

  • Schedule: 5–10 hours per week, including some evenings or weekends.

  • Location: Local campaign office and community events.

  • Supervision: Campaign staff or volunteer coordinator.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
