Photographer Intern

Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the field of photography and visual media. Interns will observe and assist photographers as they capture, edit, and present images for events, portraits, or commercial purposes. The experience provides insight into creative techniques, technical equipment, and the business side of photography.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Shadow photographers during photo shoots, client meetings, and editing sessions

·         Assist with tasks such as setting up equipment, organizing props, or editing images under supervision

·         Observe how photographers use lighting, composition, and editing tools to create professional images

·         Learn about different types of photography (portrait, event, commercial, landscape, etc.)

·         Gain exposure to professional communication, creativity, and project organization in a photography setting

   ·         Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Outcomes:

·         Understand the role of a photographer in capturing and producing high-quality images

·         Learn basic camera techniques, editing skills, and workflow practices

·         Gain awareness of creativity, professionalism, and customer service in photography

·         Develop observation, technical, and organizational skills

·         Explore career and educational pathways in photography, visual arts, or media production

Preferred Skills/Interests:

·         Interest in photography, art, or visual storytelling

·         Creativity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn

·         Basic knowledge of cameras or photo editing software (helpful but not required)

·         Professionalism, reliability, and communication skills

Additional Information:

·         Interns will primarily observe and assist with beginner-level tasks; they will not lead photo sessions independently

·         Compliance with workplace policies, client privacy, and professional standards is required

·         Some placements may involve flexible hours, including evenings or weekends for events

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
