Social Media Specialist Intern

Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the field of social media management and digital marketing. Interns will observe and assist social media specialists as they create content, manage platforms, and engage with audiences. The experience provides insight into marketing strategies, brand communication, and digital media trends.

Key Responsibilities May Include:

·         Shadow social media specialists during content planning, posting, and audience engagement

·         Assist with support tasks such as drafting posts, organizing content calendars, or monitoring social media activities

·         Observe how specialists track metrics, analyze engagement, and adjust strategies

·         Learn about different social media platforms, tools, and best practices

·         Gain exposure to teamwork, professional communication, and digital marketing strategies

   ·         Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program

Learning Outcomes:

·         Understand the role of a social media specialist in marketing and brand management

·         Learn about content creation, scheduling, and audience engagement

·         Gain awareness of professionalism, digital etiquette, and ethical communication

·         Develop observation, organizational, and creative skills

·         Explore career and educational pathways in social media management, marketing, or communications

Additional Information:

·         Interns will primarily observe and assist with support tasks; they will not independently manage social media accounts

·         Compliance with workplace policies, confidentiality, and brand guidelines is required

·         Some placements may involve flexible hours or participation in digital campaigns or content creation projects

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
