Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the field of computer network administration. Interns will observe and assist network administrators as they maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot network systems. The experience provides insight into network operations, cybersecurity, and professional IT practices.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
· Shadow network administrators during daily tasks, including monitoring networks, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and maintaining hardware and software
· Assist with support tasks such as updating documentation, organizing network equipment, or preparing reports
· Observe how administrators configure and maintain network devices, manage user access, and ensure network security
· Learn about networking concepts, cybersecurity practices, and IT policies
· Gain exposure to teamwork, professional communication, and problem-solving in a technical environment
· Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program
Learning Outcomes:
· Understand the role of a network administrator in maintaining and securing computer networks
· Learn basic network management, troubleshooting, and security practices
· Gain awareness of professionalism, ethics, and best practices in IT
· Develop observation, organizational, and technical skills

· Interns will primarily observe and assist with support tasks; they will not independently manage critical network systems

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
