Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the field of information technology (IT). Interns will observe and assist IT specialists as they manage computer systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and support network and software operations. The experience provides insight into problem-solving, technology management, and professional IT practices.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
· Shadow IT specialists during daily tasks such as system maintenance, troubleshooting, and network management
· Assist with support tasks such as updating documentation, organizing hardware/software inventory, or helping with routine software installations
· Observe how IT professionals resolve technical problems and support users
· Learn about cybersecurity, software applications, and IT best practices
· Gain exposure to teamwork, professional communication, and technology management in a workplace environment
· Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program
Learning Outcomes:
· Understand the role of IT specialists in maintaining technology infrastructure and supporting users
· Learn basic IT skills such as troubleshooting, system monitoring, and documentation
· Gain awareness of professional conduct, cybersecurity, and problem-solving in IT
· Develop observation, organizational, and technical skills
· Explore career and educational pathways in information technology, computer science, or network administration

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
