Overview:
This internship offers high school students an introduction to the electrical trade. Interns will have the opportunity to observe and assist licensed electricians with various tasks in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. This hands-on experience will provide exposure to safety practices, basic electrical concepts, and the daily responsibilities of electricians.
Responsibilities May Include:
· Shadow licensed electricians during site visits, installations, and repairs
· Learn and follow basic electrical safety procedures
· Assist with organizing and preparing tools, materials, and equipment
· Observe troubleshooting methods and problem-solving in real projects
· Practice basic tasks under supervision, such as measuring, labeling, or organizing wiring
· Gain insight into codes, regulations, and professional standards in the field
· Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program
Learning Outcomes:
· Understand the role and responsibilities of electricians in different work environments
· Develop awareness of safety procedures and why they are critical in electrical work
· Become familiar with tools, equipment, and materials commonly used in the trade
· Gain introductory knowledge of wiring, circuits, and electrical systems

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
