Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the role of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in healthcare. Interns will observe and assist with non-clinical tasks in hospitals, clinics, or long-term care facilities while learning how CNAs support patients with daily living needs and provide essential care under the supervision of nurses.
Responsibilities May Include:
· Shadow CNAs during patient care routines in healthcare settings
· Observe how CNAs assist patients with daily activities such as mobility, hygiene, and comfort (no direct patient care provided by interns)
· Help with non-clinical tasks such as organizing supplies, stocking equipment, and maintaining a clean care environment
· Learn about infection control, patient privacy, and safety practices
· Gain exposure to teamwork among CNAs, nurses, doctors, and other healthcare staff
· Observe professional communication with patients, families, and staff
· Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program
Learning Outcomes:
· Understand the role of CNAs in patient care and the healthcare system
· Gain awareness of the daily responsibilities and challenges of direct care providers
· Learn about patient dignity, empathy, and confidentiality (HIPAA)
· Develop an appreciation for communication and teamwork in healthcare
· Explore education and career pathways for CNAs, nursing, and related medical fields

Additional Information:
· Interns will observe and assist with support tasks only; no direct patient care will be provided
· Compliance with dress code, confidentiality, and infection control procedures is required
· Some placements may require health screenings, immunizations, or background checks prior to starting
