Overview:

This internship introduces high school students to the chiropractic profession, where a Doctor of Chiropractic focuses on spinal health, the nervous system, and overall wellness. Students will observe chiropractors and clinic staff in a healthcare setting, assist with supportive tasks, and gain insight into holistic approaches to patient care.

Responsibilities May Include:

·         Shadow chiropractors during patient consultations, exams, and treatments.

·         Learn about spinal health, posture, and lifestyle factors that impact wellness.

·         Assist staff with preparing rooms, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean environment.

·         Support front office tasks such as filing, greeting patients, and scheduling appointments.

·         Observe the use of therapeutic tools and wellness techniques.

·         Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program.

Skills & Knowledge Gained:

·         Introduction to chiropractic care and holistic health practices.

·         Understanding of the role of posture, alignment, and lifestyle in wellness.

·         Awareness of clinical operations, patient interaction, and professional communication.

·         Development of workplace professionalism, organization, and teamwork.

·         Insight into healthcare career pathways, including chiropractic, physical therapy, and sports medicine.

Requirements:

·         Interest in healthcare, wellness, or rehabilitation.

·         Professional, respectful behavior in patient care settings.

·         Strong communication and organizational skills.

·         Willingness to learn in both clinical and office environments.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this internship, students will have a foundational understanding of chiropractic care, professional exposure to a healthcare clinic, and clearer direction toward future education and careers in chiropractic and related fields.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
