Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to hospital administration and the operations behind healthcare facilities. Interns will observe hospital administrators and office staff as they manage departments, coordinate staff, and support patient services. The experience provides insight into leadership, organization, and decision-making in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities May Include:
· Shadow hospital administrators during daily operations, meetings, and planning activities
· Assist with non-clinical tasks such as organizing documents, filing, and managing office supplies
· Observe how administrators coordinate departments, staff schedules, and hospital workflows
· Learn about hospital policies, regulations, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA)
· Support special projects, reporting, or community outreach initiatives
· Gain exposure to professional communication, teamwork, and problem-solving in a healthcare setting
· Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program
Learning Outcomes:
· Understand the role of hospital administrators in managing healthcare facilities

Additional Information:
· Interns will primarily observe and assist with support tasks; they will not make administrative decisions independently

· Some placements may require background checks, health screenings, or orientation before starting

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
