Overview:
This internship provides high school students with the opportunity to explore the field of orthodontics and dental health. Interns will gain real-world experience by observing orthodontists and dental staff, assisting with non-clinical tasks, and learning how orthodontic care improves patients’ health and confidence. This program is designed to give students early exposure to careers in dentistry while building professional skills in communication, organization, and teamwork.
Responsibilities may include:
- Shadowing orthodontists and staff during patient appointments (observation only)
- Assisting with front office tasks such as greeting patients, organizing charts, or scheduling appointments
- Learning about orthodontic tools, equipment, and common treatments (e.g., braces, retainers, aligners)
- Helping prepare and organize supplies for patient care (non-clinical support)
- Observing patient education on oral hygiene and care instructions
- Completing reflection journals, workbook entries, or program assignments as required

- Introduction to orthodontics and dentistry as career paths
- Knowledge of basic oral health and orthodontic treatment procedures

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
