Overview:
This internship introduces high school students to the medical imaging field and the role of radiology technicians. Interns will observe how imaging equipment is used to help diagnose and treat patients while learning about patient care, safety protocols, and professional standards in healthcare.
Responsibilities May Include:
· Shadow radiology technicians as they prepare and assist patients for imaging procedures
· Observe the use of X-ray, MRI, CT, or ultrasound equipment (no direct operation by interns)
· Learn about radiation safety practices and protective measures in a medical setting
· Assist with non-clinical tasks such as organizing supplies, maintaining a clean workspace, and completing paperwork
· Gain exposure to the workflow of a hospital or clinic radiology department
· Observe professional communication between healthcare staff and patients
· Completing assignments, reflection journals, or internship workbook entries as required by the program
Learning Outcomes:
· Understand the role of radiology technicians in patient care and diagnosis
· Learn about medical imaging technology and its applications in healthcare
· Develop an awareness of healthcare safety standards and patient confidentiality (HIPAA)
· Gain insight into educational and career pathways for radiology and related medical fields

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
