Communication and Creative Services Intern

Position Summary: This internship provides high school students with hands-on exposure to the fields of professional communications, graphic design, and digital media production. Interns will learn how a professional Communications & Creative Services team supports an organization through digital, print, and community engagement strategies. Students will gain practical experience in visual storytelling, brand consistency, and professional collaboration while exploring career pathways in communications and design.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Design Shadowing: Observe and learn from a professional Graphic Designer to understand branding, layout design, and the use of creative tools.

  • Multimedia Content Support: Assist with capturing and editing on-site photography and video clips at events to document authentic stories.

  • Social Media Management: Assist with creating, editing, and scheduling engaging content for various social media platforms.

  • Production Support: Support the "smooth process" of the Creative Services department by assisting with the physical production and finishing of materials.

  • Collaborative Partnership: Work alongside teammates and interact with customers to ensure creative projects meet specific objectives and client needs.

  • Trend Exploration: Help the team test new creative ideas and digital trends to keep agency content fresh and engaging.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop foundational skills in professional communication, creativity, and project organization.

  • Gain technical experience with digital tools, marketing platforms, and professional production techniques.

  • Understand the full scope of a creative project, from initial strategy to final delivery.

  • Learn about diverse career and education pathways within the communications and creative industries.

Qualifications:

  • Current High School Student: 11th or 12th grade.

  • Areas of Interest: A strong interest in communications, social media, graphic design, and digital storytelling.

  • Core Skills: Creative thinker with good written and verbal communication skills and a basic knowledge of social media platforms.

  • Personal Attributes: Reliable, organized, positive attitude, and a genuine willingness to learn and ask questions.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
