Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: to be arranged

Reports To: General Manager

Scheduling: Year-round. 12-15 hours per week. Generally 3-4 hours per day, three days a week, mornings or afternoons. Attendance at some evening or weekend special events.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Programming/Events Assistant will take part in planning and execution of KCCK’s wide array of summer community and education events. These include the Corridor Jazz Project, Iowa City Jazz Festival, Middle School Jazz Band Camp, Schoolhouse Jazz and Jazz Under the Stars.

The Assistant will also work with the programming and music departments on various promotion and program scheduling tasks.  These tasks will include, but not be limited to:  Data entry, social media posting, preparing mailings, scheduling and preparing giveaways, writing on-air copy, etc.  Some on-air opportunities may be available as well.

Required Experience:

Normal computer and office software suite skills. Should be conversant and comfortable with multiple social media platforms. Knowledge of jazz and interest in jazz music and/or radio broadcasting very helpful.

Required Licenses or Certificates:

Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

None.  Some lifting and carrying (50 lbs. Maximum) may be required.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
