Internship Length: 45 hrs
Office Hours: To be arranged

Essential Functions:

  • Assigned duties such as passing out water/snacks.
  • Linen changes, make beds.
  • Restocking patient care supplies.
  • Communicating with residents, family and staff.
  • Push wheelchairs.
  • Train as Nutritional Assistant.
  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.
  • Shadow nurses/CNA when appropriate. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Skills/Knowledge:  Ability to follow instructions.  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice.  Must be detail-oriented.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required.  Must be courteous and respectful.  Must enjoy working with the elderly.   Confidentiality of patient information is required.
  • Must be a high school student in good standing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.  Will spend 80-90% of time standing or walking.  Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing at least 25 pounds.
  • A professional appearance is essential.
  • Must attend orientation and staff in-services.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
